COMPANY PROFILE
Authentic small-lot bottlings from the remarkable cellars of
Cognacs largest remaining family-owned house.
Beautifully crafted, drawn from unusually extensive stocks of old
distillates. Distinctive, so as to reveal the hand of the maker.
Maison Surrenne is a collaboration between the founders of Germain-Robin and Cognacs largest remaining family-owned producer. Surrennes cellars hold extensive stocks of aged distillates that have been maintained pure and unblended. The house owns four distilleries, including the ancient installation in the chateau of Triac. The home distillery is on the Quai de lIle Madame on the banks of the Charente river in Jarnac.
In its eight cellars, Maison Surrenne ages a remarkable collection of cognacs, notable for high quality. We selected superb cognacs which are also genuinely distinctive. Properly made, cognac reflects the land and climate from which its grapes were taken. Our bottlings come from specific regions, and we further emphasize their individuality by using cognacs from a particular vintage, or a single distillery, or even an individual cask. Many of these bottlings are unblended, and the rareties are unfiltered.
Great cognac doesnt need a lot of oak. Flavors should be subtle and delicate, with no hint of harshness. Aromas and flavors should be in balance, with no single flavor or aroma too dominant. Clarity, purity, and individual distinction, seldom to be found these days, are the qualities that make a great cognac memorable.
Maison Surrenne does not indulge in the usual commercial practices: no excessive adulteration by caramel or sugar syrup or boisé (oak-chip) flavoring. Surrennes cognacs are blended to enhance their individuality, not to conform to mass-production standards.
